If you saw this post back in May or caught my post on the Tamron video yesterday, this sweet face may look familiar…
The day we shot the video, Rio was doing some really heavy breathing. In the days following, it didn’t go away so his mom Amy took him to the vet and sadly he was diagnosed with cancer. He’s been undergoing chemotherapy to help treat it, and unfortunately just yesterday he had a bad reaction to the chemo and is having a challenging time. Amy is one of two people who helps run the Lowcountry Lab Rescue so she works tirelessly day after day, in addition to her full time job, pulling labs from dire situations, fostering, and helping all of these incredible dogs find new forever homes. For her to be facing this awful situation with her own dog breaks my heart :(
It would be so nice if you have a second if you could leave Amy, Rio, and their family a comment to let them know Rio is in your thoughts and prayers. He really needs them right now – his family loves him SO much and they need any extra positive vibes they can get.

Thoughts and prayers for your recovery sweet Rio!
I have two labs, my boy, Buster looks just like Rio. My heart aches for you. My prayers and thoughts to Amy, Rio and their family. I know how upsetting it is to go through this. Please keep us updated on Rio.
Prayers for Rio and his family and licks and kisses from Jack
Thinking of Rio and sending a prayer for him. Be well, beautiful boy.
Beautiful post Brittani and beautiful pictures. Labs are my favorite, I’ve been scratching my Lab’s belly all mornin’. Lots of prayers to Amy and her family and Mr. Rio!!! Amy you sound like an amazing woman, stay strong and hang in there! xoxo
Oh this is so hard. We try to tell ourselves to feel better that “he’s just a dog.” It’s just not true! They are family. A part of our daily routine. Part of our lives. Really nothing can be said to make anyone feel better other than to let you know you have our empathy.
I just finished reading ‘The Art of Racing in the Rain”, a book written from a dogs point of view about his life as he lay dying. It made me realize that dogs know when it’s time to go – long before us humans want it to be. My own Lab has many health problems and his eyes speak to me. It is so very, very hard to let go. My heart goes out to you.
Lots of prayers to Rio and his family. My lab is 12 and has some health issues and it has been difficult so my heart goes out to them. Labs are such wonderful pets!
in your corner we are, Amy and Rio!!!!!
My heart just breaks for anyone going through this with a pet! They are such a treasured part of the family. What a blessing that you were able to photograph Rio so recently. I’ll be praying for Rio and that his beautiful family has comfort in whatever upcoming challenges they face! Our two dogs send also send lots love and tail wags!
Thinking of you Rio. Sending sweet kisses… xoxo!
Although I have deep roots in Maryland where I grew up, I am absolutely in love with all things southern. I live on a farm in a small town in South Carolina with my handsome husband, my beautiful step-son, our two yellow lab fur-kids, and three spoiled horses. My blog is a journal of sorts. It’s where I can share all about the things I love so much: my family, our life together, and of course all of the amazing and wonderful people and pets whose story I get to tell.

I love collaborating with laid-back and down- to-earth couples who appreciate the value their wedding images will have for the rest of their lives, and I believe in unique weddings that are truly designed around two people and who they are together. I strive to create images that are emotional, organic, fresh, and genuine, but that will remain timeless twenty, thirty, or sixty years down the road. I believe in printed images, developing friendships with my clients, and having a completely relaxed and enjoyable wedding experience. Each and every story I get to tell is unique and I truly enjoy sharing all of the little pieces that together form this beautiful relationship.
I am currently booking weddings for 2013 and 2014, so please get in touch below to start the journey of documenting your love.
Thinking and praying for you all!!!
