Art Museum Wedding: Kristen & Kris

There is so much I love about this wedding! Kristen and Kris’ celebration in Baltimore was perfect :) Despite storms just a day earlier, the weather for their Saturday wedding could not have been better. Kristen and her girls got ready at she and Kris’ home, and then they met to say their I Do’s at a church that has played a big role in their relationship over the many years they have dated. Soon enough we were all headed off to downtown Baltimore for their super fun and unique reception at the American Visionary Arts Museum. We were able to spend lots of time taking pictures up on Federal Hill, and then Kristen and Kris joined their closest friends and family to continue the celebration.

I absolutely loved how Kristen wove grey and yellow throughout the entire day. The AVAM barn was the perfect backdrop for all of her fun details…and I am in LOVE with that cake! Thank you both for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful day, and I know only incredible things are in store for you guys in the future!

Molly & Kevin

If you know me you know that I love a gorgeous farm and I also love couples that are laid-back and so easy going. Molly and Kevin definitely fit the bill and I had such a good time exploring Molly’s family farm with them last weekend. It’s pretty obvious, but Molly and Kevin are the epitome of an “easy” couple. They interacted so effortlessly, had some hilarious conversations about Kevin’s dog Shadow, and were so comfortable with one another. Getting to spend a few hours with them made me so excited for their quickly approaching August wedding…so don’t worry, you’ll see them again soon! Enjoy some of my favorites :)

Emily: Bridal Portraits

I am SO excited to finally be able to share Emily’s bridal portraits. We met back in May at her parents farm and I was over the moon that she wanted to include some of her favorite four-legged “kids” :) We had a beautiful evening, Emily looked stunning, and we had a really great time being a little adventurous. Unfortunately I was already booked for Emily and her fiance David’s wedding, but it was such a pleasure getting to know her and her family even if just for a few hours. Enjoy some of my favorites!

Rosedale Manor Wedding: Brittany & Steve

Brittany and Steve were married this past Saturday at Rosedale Manor, situated on Greenwell State Park and overlooking the Patuxent River. The heat didn’t stop them from having the kind of day they had hoped for… so very fun :) I really loved how they made the day so personal…from including lots of nods to the Beatles and Baltimore’s Utz Girl and Natty Boh, to Brittany redesigning her mother’s wedding dress and them being announced in to the UMD fight song. I enjoyed being a part of the festivities and hope you enjoy some of my favorites from their day!

Friday Five: May

Usually I am so amazed at how fast the months go by, and although I still feel this year is FLYING, it feels like it’s been forever since I’ve done a Friday Five…so I guess the month hasn’t gone by that fast! But alas, here we are at the end of May and June will be here tomorrow. And then when June is over, 2013 is officially halfway over. Scary! May has been such a crazy month, so I’ll break it down into my typical list of what’s on my mind/happening/new/fun/you get the drift :)

1. Nashville: Anyone else wondering what they will do with themselves until the fall when Nashville returns? I am so glad Dustin and I gave this show a shot from the very beginning because we are ADDICTED. Like sometimes I feel like the characters are real people in real life. I’m embarrassed to admit how upset I got over the finale and how much I cried. One of my best friends is equally obsessed so we are always texting about it and it leads to some hilarious conversations. But anyways, hurry back Nashville!

2. Our diamond in the rough of a house: Remember this post? About how we were tearing it down? Welp, I owe you an update, but to keep it concise, we did a little more research riiiiiight before we were about to say goodbye, and decided to keep it. So we went ahead and took the first big step of bringing this baby back to life…a brand new roof! It should be done next week so I’ll have to do a post of the before, during, and after. It’s been really bizarre to drive past the house and it has ZERO roof on it…it’s literally just four walls right now lol! It looks like a doll house :)

3. Workation: June will be a crazy month for travel since I have MD weddings the first four weekends of the month. Most people expect me to just go and stay almost the whole month, but that’s just not as easy when you’ve got a husband who works out of town M-F, four horses that need to be taken care of, and lots of farm projects in the works. So I’ll be flying a lot, driving some, and basically making a workcation out of it. Even though I’ll have tons of work to do in between each wedding, it will be kind of fun to have some extra time to spend with my friends and family. Starting with today…laying poolside with three of my best friends and two of my favorite kiddos :) I’ll take any combination of Vitamin D, water, and best friends when I can get it!

4. Best friends + weddings = FINALLY!: Speaking of best friends, two of my best friends are getting married in the next year and I cannnnnnnnooooottttt wait :) I love these two ladies so much and it’s been so fun having a little hand in the planning process from the other side…not as a photographer, not as a bride, but as a friend :) One of their bridal showers is in June and all of the girls are working so hard to make it so much fun…I’ll be sure to take pictures and share!

5. Gnats: :( I’ll keep this short and sweet. I’ve enjoyed the last 6 months of no gnats, but it’s like they know that as soon as Memorial Day comes and goes, they MUST return. I hate those little buggers :( The south would be perfection without those things. And snakes. I’ve seen way too many snakes already this summer!

Downtown Charleston Wedding: Montie & Jimmy

Every Saturday I am convinced I get to spend the day doing hanging out with the best couples ever. This past Saturday was no exception. Tons of Montie and Jimmy’s friends came to Charleston to celebrate a crazy and exciting wedding weekend. Montie and her girls started the day getting ready at her family’s beach house on Sullivan’s Island and the weather could not have possibly been any more perfect. Then we all headed downtown to one of the prettiest churches in downtown Charleston, where she and Jimmy promised forever in front of a full house. By the time the evening rolled around, we were racing daylight for their portraits, but it worked out perfectly because the light we had? It was incredible. And it went so perfectly with Montie’s gorgeous blush wedding gown and Jimmy’s handsome black and white tux. The rest of the evening was spent dancing the night away to a super fun band under one of the most gorgeous moons I’ve ever seen over Charleston.

It’s completely obvious, but this is such a wonderful couple. Montie’s smile is endlessly vibrant, and her personality matches to a tee. Both she and Jimmy are gracious and kind with incredible hearts, and I honestly couldn’t imagine them ever finding anyone else so perfect for one another. It was such a joy to be a part of their wedding day, and I hope you enjoy some of my favorites from their elegant downtown Charleston, South Carolina wedding!

Happy Birthday Dustin

Although yesterday was actually your birthday, today I’m taking the time to look back at some of my favorite pictures over the years :) I am so grateful to have you by my side, to call you my husband, and to know you always have my back. Your birthday always reminds me of the beginning of us, and how much has changed since you turned 24. The last four years have been such an adventure, and sometimes it’s so crazy to know those four years have gone by as quickly as they have. We have so many incredible memories, and even just pulling up these few pictures had me laughing, smiling, and tearing up a little. I’m so endlessly grateful for all that you have brought into my life, how you have changed me in the craziest and best ways, and I’m so excited for all the years ahead. I hope you have the happiest of birthdays, and always know that Landon and I love you 100 times more than you could ever imagine :)

Katie & Lou

Katie is a friend of a past client (hey Kathy!) so of course I was really excited when she emailed me and said she and her fiance Lou would be in Charleston for the weekend and they’d love to meet up for an engagement session. I knew that if she was friends with Kathy (specifically by way of soccer) that we would get along great…that this would be an easy-going, laid-back, outdoorsy, and fun couple. I was definitely right!

Katie and Lou have spent some time in Charleston throughout their relationship so they wanted to start at their favorite coffee shop in Summerville. I always encourage my clients to treat their engagement sessions like a date (with me as a third wheel hehe) so I loved that they wanted to spend time somewhere that really made the session feel like an early morning date :) They included their handsome hound dog Boone, who of course stole my heart, and then we headed to downtown Charleston for some more portraits.

These two are just as fun and happy as they look…it was obvious from the get-go that they truly are best friends and always have each others backs. I loved hearing about where life has taken them together in recent years, and I’m even more excited to see where they go from here :) Enjoy some of my favorites, and maybe you will see them on the blog again in the next year or two!

Backyard Greenville Wedding: Irina & Mike

This past Saturday I made the trip to Fountain Inn, a cute little town just south of Greenville, South Carolina, for Irina and Mike’s wedding. I’d really been looking forward to their fun backyard wedding that Irina’s parents were hosting at their home, but as I got further north, I drove through more and more showers. Once I got to Fountain Inn, I realized it’d been raining pretty steady all morning so things were not looking good for their outdoor ceremony in the front yard. Despite spotty showers in the early afternoon, the rain held off at just the right times. We were able to do wedding party pictures outside, the sun actually came out RIGHT as Irina was coming down the aisle, and then following portraits downtown it sprinkled on and off again for the rest of the evening. The timing was just perfectly orchestrated, as I think everyone else would agree.

I quickly learned that Irina and Mike complement one another in the best of ways. While it’s obvious both are incredibly smart, talented, and driven, Irina maintained such a calm presence about her all morning, while Mike is clearly the goofball of the duo…he kept me on my toes and fired back to my jokes with hardly any effort. I love grooms that can let loose and laugh a lot :) I really enjoyed getting to spend the day with them and their families and hope that these images convey how incredible their wedding day was from beginning to end, and how beautiful of a couple they are together. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Phillips!

Even though this group shot is missing a few girls, it’s one of my favorites because of how happy everyone looks :)

And okay, I was OBSESSED with how amazing all of the different grey dresses looked, especially with those bright springy florals. So pretty!

The rain wasn’t going to stop us from getting some beautiful bridal portraits at Irina’s church in town. I love the red umbrella so much, and Irina is literally a radiant bride.

After grabbing a few shots at the house, we headed to downtown Fountain Inn for the rest of Irina and Mike’s portraits. Irina is all about including things that are sentimental and meaningful so I love that she had picked out some really special spots, especially since her family has such a long history in Fountain Inn (hence Gault’s Dry Cleaners!). So fun!

I love them and how genuinely happy they make one another. Such a perfect pair.

Irina and Mike are both doctors, so how cool is this guest book?

Mike has the best sense of humor…definitely my kind of groom!
